We try to have various DC-DC adapters available at the CommonsLab. There are different kinds, which usually can accept a range of input voltage and convert it to a given output voltage.
- Buck / Step-Down
- They take a higher DC voltage and convert them to a lower DC voltage (e.g. 6V-12V -> 5V).
- Boost / Step-Up
- They take a lower DC voltage and convert it to a higher DC voltage (e.g. 3V-20V -> 24V).
- Buck-Boost
- They take a voltage, which can be both higher or lower than the output voltage (e.g. 5V-20V -> 12V).
Some DC-DC adapters can provide a constant output current rather than a constant output voltage. Even others can limit both the output voltage and the output current to a given maximum level (e.g. see first item).
5A / 30V constant-current / constant-voltage
This version acts both as an adjustable constant voltage supply but has also an adjustable current limit.
- Input voltage
- 5V-32V
- Output voltage
- 0.8V-30V
- Output current
- max. 5A (Beware of overheating!)
